Child Safety Award Program
The Chatham Police Department is proud to have partnered with McDonald’s, Hardee’s, Ice Deli, and Scoop Du Jour for this program which has proven to be extremely popular and well received by this community. During the summer months, officers on patrol are on the lookout for kids exercising some form of safety. Officers who see kids wearing a bike helmet, or even looking both ways before they cross the street, will interact with the kids and their parents/guardians and then present the child with a Child Safety Award. The goal of this program is to promote and recognize the safe behavior the child has shown or is showing and also to promote positive police interactions with kids. All Child Safety Awards can be redeemed at the Chatham Police Department.
